The Argentine Rugby Union, UAR, has become the latest international governing body to work with OptaPro to support its senior men’s national team.
Over the next eighteen months, analysts working with the Pumas will have access to RugbyHub to inform post-match analysis, opposition assessment and player selection. Key features of RugbyHub include video integrated with Opta data from international and domestic matches, together with detailed data reports, at player and team level, providing key performance insights from individual matches as well as wider season trends.
As part of the agreement, Argentina’s Super Rugby side Jaguares will also have access to RugbyHub.
UAR are the first South American rugby body to work with OptaPro, joining other national bodies including the RFU (England), WRU (Wales), IRFU (Ireland) and New Zealand Rugby.
After finalising the agreement, Francisco Rubio, Rugby Manager of UAR, said:
“Data analysis and live statistics are very important for us in order to build reports on the performance of our teams.
“We are applying detailed data to inform opposition analysis and assess our own performance. We are confident that RugbyHub will be a great success for the staff working with our team.”
Commenting on the tie-up, Ben Mackriell, EVP Head of OptaPro said:
“2019 is a huge year for international rugby, with the Rugby Championship being followed immediately by the World Cup in Japan and I am delighted that OptaPro will be supporting Argentina as they prepare for both competitions.
“RugbyHub is already well-established with clubs and governing bodies all around the world, who recognise the benefit of streamlining video and data analysis to share key insights with players and coaches. I am confident that those analysts working with the national team and with the Jaguares will find their post-match and opposition processes enhanced by working with Opta data – the most comprehensive and detailed global database in professional rugby.”
