Major League Soccer (MLS) and US Soccer agreed to an exclusive data rights deal on Thursday with Stats Perform. The unique, jointly agreed-upon deal allows the company access to the league’s real-time data, as well as the data from the national team, in order to provide this information to betting operators in a first for the league. The deal was agreed upon after US Soccer and MLS had previously decided to pool their data. It was negotiated and eventually agreed upon by Soccer United Marketing (SUM), the for-profit marketing arm of the MLS and also the exclusive marketing partner of US Soccer. The deal will run through the end of the 2022 season.
