Chicago, IL – October 27, 2015 – STATS LLC, the world’s leading sports technology, data and content company, has entered into a partnership with Snapchat that leverages the mobile app’s “Geofilter” product – location-based art overlays Snapchatters add to their photo and video Snaps. Powered by STATS and available at select major sporting events and stadiums today, these “dynamic Geofilters” allow Snapchatters to add real-time score updates to their photo and video Snaps to better express the excitement of the game with their Snapchat community.
This week, these live-score dynamic Geofilters, which were first introduced earlier this month in venues for professional leagues from the NBA to MLB, make their championship debut during The World Series. Snapchatters attending these games with location services enabled in the app will automatically see the option to add a dynamic Geofilter to their photo and video Snaps.
“We are excited to bring STATS’ sports data expertise to Snapchat’s global network,” said STATS Executive Vice President, Sales and Marketing Greg Kirkorsky. “This partnership represents a fantastic opportunity for STATS to expand its user experience by engaging sports fans with STATS’ data in real-time via one of the world’s most widely used social platforms.”
The live-score dynamic Geofilters powered by STATS are an extension of Snapchat’s core Geofilter product, which use geofencing technology to overlay custom graphics around a specific place – like a stadium – that are then available to the Snapchat community.
“Dynamic Geofilters are a visual and timely way for sports fans to express the here and now of the game in their Snaps,” said Ben Schwerin, Director of Partnerships, Snapchat. “We’re thankful for the opportunity to work with STATS to power this engaging product.”
