LONDON – 16 June, 2016 – Prozone Sports, a pioneer of performance analysis in sport, will support the delivery of a connected 5-a-side pitch at the official Euro 2016 fan zone in Nice. Starting on Saturday 18 June, fans can find out if they can sprint as fast as Bale or are as fit as Kanté.
Prozone, acquired by STATS LLC in May 2015, will implement athlete monitoring technology to record fitness statistics and give fans the opportunity to compare themselves to the pros.
The unique venture was launched by the French State Secretary for Sports and the Mayor of Nice during a press conference in the city last month. The project will see Prozone work with Soccer Park, a leading 5-a-side franchise, and MyCoach, a coaching app for amateur and youth players, to bring an elite sports experience to football fans in Nice.
“Prozone’s involvement with the connected pitch will give Euro 2016 fans the chance to have their performance monitored like elite players,” said Antoine David, Prozone General Manager for Southern Europe. “As a global leader in the delivery of performance analysis technology, Prozone’s athlete monitoring solutions are used by clubs around the world to deliver competitive advantage on the field. This project represents a unique opportunity for fans to experience an elite level of analysis during one of the biggest tournaments in world football.”
Prozone will collect and share the data using its elite athlete monitoring system, designed to optimise the performance of professional players. This technology will be made available to fans during Euro 2016, with 5-a-side players given reports highlighting their key performance indicators. This will enable fans to review their own physical outputs and access the level of insight available to the stars of the tournament.
