CHICAGO – November 30, 2016 – STATS, the world’s leading sports data and technology company, announced today its expanded partnership with Snapchat to provide additional differentiated data points for more leagues around the world.
Last year, Snapchat launched dynamic scoreboard Geofilters – a variation of the location-based art overlays Snapchatters add to their photo and video Snaps – which feature live sports scores. These dynamic Geofilters powered by STATS were available at select major sporting events and stadiums to allow Snapchatters to add real-time score updates to their Snaps to better express the excitement of the game with their Snapchat community.
Snapchatters will now have the ability to share data and statistics that go beyond the score during live sporting events for more than 30 leagues including NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, NCAA Football and EPL.
“Knowing how successful our partnership with Snapchat has been to this point, we are eager to see how users of the popular communication app will engage with the additional differentiated data,” said Greg Kirkorsky, Executive Vice President, Sales for STATS. “Snapchat has given us the unique opportunity to see how fans interact with our sports data directly.”
STATS is the Official Data Source of MLBAM and several of the new features were on display for the World Series featuring the Chicago Cubs and the Cleveland Indians. Snapchatters were able to overlay several new data points such as Pitch Count, Men on Base and Outs in addition to the live score and inning.
